Understand the Requirements

There are specific requirements in place to get your motorcycle license to ensure you're eligible to take the tests that are required. You need to be at least 18 years old and need to pass multiple tests to qualify. You'll be required to pay the fees associated with obtaining your license. The cost of an instruction permit is $3.50, which increases to $6.50 for the standard permit. When you obtain a three-year license, the cost is $10. The six-year license is $20. Additional fees must be paid for the examinations when you first apply to obtain your permit or license.

The Motorcycle Rider Training Course must be completed by drivers who are under the age of 16. Drivers who are under the age of 18 can only get their permit and are not eligible for a license.

When you're preparing to apply for your license, you must provide your name, address, social security number, birth date, and location of your birth.

Pass the Right Tests

Plan to obtain your permit first before you can be eligible for a motorcycle license. Those who obtain a Class M permit must be prepared to show the same identification as anyone applying for a license. The state requires a parent or guardian to sign a permission statement for the driver to be eligible. The permit needs to be held for six months before the driver can apply for the full license.

You must pass multiple tests to obtain your motorcycle license, which includes the road sign tests, as well as the Class F and Class M vision tests. Younger drivers under the age of 18 must pass a series of tests and can graduate and move up over time to obtain their motorcycle license once they're 18. A knowledge and road sign test must be passed to obtain a full license.
