Whether you’re a Missouri native or just visiting, taking your motorcycle on some of our best routes will help you make the most of every moment here in the Show-Me State. St. Charles Harley-Davidson® has provided some riding routes to help you explore the area, but if you’d like some of our staff’s personal favorite routes, stop by our location serving St. Louis, St. Peters, and O’Fallon. We can even show you some of our Harley-Davidson® motorcycles for sale if you still need the wheels to get you started.

Missouri Wine Country Tour

Missouri wine country is home to some of the most beautiful landscapes in the state, with sprawling vineyards and breathtaking views. Travel along Route 94 through the Missouri River Valley, with bluffs that reach as high as 400 feet. You’ll travel west toward the town of Hermann, first established in 1837 by German immigrants. Today, they retain many of the same traditions their ancestors brought to the town and the whole area provides a rich history of early American settlement.

And, of course, you’ll probably want to check out some of the vineyards in the area. Remember to always ride responsibly and limit your tastings.

St. Louis / Illinois Bluffs / Missouri Mining Country Loop

If you’d like to extend your route to last for several hours, there’s a special loop that takes you through over 200 miles of Missouri roads and highways, starting in St. Louis. Cross the river to Illinois, using Route 3 to reach Palmer Road, which eventually becomes Bluff Road. Ride south alongside the Mississippi River as you pass historic towns like Fort de Chartres that features the fort’s original powder magazine and is said to be the oldest building in the state. You’ll also have lots of opportunities to stop and admire the longest river in the nation, surrounded by stunning vistas and thriving communities.

Continue your ride toward Modoc and take the Modoc Ferry Road southwest to the Ste. Genevieve-Modoc Ferry. For a small fee, you can enjoy a relaxing ferry ride back across the river to let your legs stretch and your body rest. After you dock, head to Ste. Genevieve to explore this quaint region filled with wineries, cafes, and other local attractions.

Now for the calm ride home. After you’ve finished exploring this area, or stopping for a bite to eat, make your way to Missouri Route 32, riding west until you reach Missouri Route 21. Taking this north will eventually bring you back to St. Louis, but not before you have a chance to really enjoy a relaxing ride with no interruptions.

River Kings Row

We’re heading south again, following the Mississippi, this time on Highway 61. You’ll have over 100 miles of open road in front of you where you can stop to take in the scenery, visit one of the many towns along the river, or simply ride on with the wind whistling past and your Harley bike growling down the highway. The many twists and turns will keep you awake and engaged, but the smooth road conditions will keep you comfortable.

Travel all the way to Sikeston, Missouri, where we recommend stopping into Lambert’s Cafe, first established in 1942. This self-proclaimed “Home of Throwed Rolls” offers a menu of delicious southern-style cooking and a staff that will—as their nickname implies—toss you warm dinner rolls during the lunch rush. After you’ve had your fill, simply head north back toward St. Louis, either on Highway 61 again or I-55 for a faster route.

These are some of our favorite routes in the state, but what are yours? We want to know, so stop by your local Harley dealer, St. Charles Harley-Davidson, to chat with one of our friendly staff. We can also show you some of the Harley-Davidson motorcycles we have for sale near St. Peters and O’Fallon, Missouri.
